On March 3-4, 2020 a workshop on the project “Water management in Baltic forests – Tool box” – WAMBAF Tool Box, took place in Riga. Its main organizer was the Latvian State Forest Research Institute Silava.
Chief International Cooperation Officer at KarRC RAS Nadezhda Mikhailova told the project participants about the Karelian Research Centre and its international activities. Researcher at the Laboratory of Landscape Ecology and Forest Ecosystem Protection (Forest Research Institute KarRC RAS) Vera Timofeeva gave an update on WAMBAF Tool Box project activities at KarRC RAS.

The workshop included talks by work package coordinators, practical sessions, and discussion of materials for draft recommendations. Upcoming project implementation plans were discussed, in particular for working meetings in spring and autumn in Petrozavodsk, training courses in the Arkhangelsk Region, and many more.

WAMBAF Tool Box project is implemented under Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020. The Lead Partner is the Swedish Forest Agency. Russian partners in the project are KarRC RAS and World Wildlife Fund (WWF Russia) Arkhangelsk Region Office. The partnership also includes 7 research institutions from other countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, and Sweden.
