A meeting of the Regional Policy Council was held at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Representatives of RAS regional divisions, heads of RAS representative offices and presidents of national academies of sciences in regions of Russia discussed the foundations of the regional sci-tech policy, legislative issues and indicators of innovative development of regions.
— The regional policy of RAS aims to promote the scientific, educational and industrial potential of regions within the country. Coordination of scientific research is becoming ever more important. That is why one of the key topics discussed was the operation of regional research centers, which are especially characterized by multidisciplinary research. The Council also talked about the need to adopt regulations that take into account the specific features of the regional centers. It is important to coordinate science in the regions. At the same time, quite a few Russian Federation subjects so far have no regional structures of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In particular, the possibility of opening a representative office in the Voronezh Region was discussed at the meeting, — tells Olga Bakhmet.
The RAS Regional Policy Council was established under the RAS Presidium to assist in the implementation of the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation at the federal and regional levels, to maintain the unity of Russia's scientific space, to raise the prestige of science and disseminate scientific knowledge.
