The critical review of numerous publications on definition of elements – impurity (EI) contents in vein, pеgmatite and quartzes from granitoid breeds is executed. Using the VNIISIMS extensive database the component substance and structural EI in quartzes of different genesis are defined. The reasons of the widespread mistakes at definition of EI by quantitative spectral analyses and due to insufficient clearing of quartz concentrates from minerals – impurity are proved. It has been revealed that calculations of EPR spectroscopic parameters into weight values of EI are not reliable also. The conclusions on necessity of withdrawal methodical recommendations of 1991 on calculations of quantitative contents of structural EI according to EPR data and on necessity to develop new methodical recommendations on 10 versions of natural quartz are made.
