The book is a first account of the results of research into contemporary concentrations of chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium, lead and sulphur in the main types of Valaam soils. Mean reference values were determined and ecological-geochemical assessment of soil condition was carried out. Data of soil acidity and its spatial variability are provided. A series of computer-made maps reflects the spatial distribution of the elements in question in the soil cover of this unique protected insular ecosystem of Karelia.
