Pictures on rocks differ from each other in topography, orientation, size and configuration, surface, number and state of preservation of the figures, concentration, distance between groupings. E.g., the Besovy Sledki petroglyphs in the White Sea area densely cover about 40m2 of rock. Rock carvings in Zalavruga are more sparse, occupying isolated sites. The major, most concentrated groupings were gradually filled in and functioned for prolonged periods of time.
